The more than 82,000 West Virginians who have concealed weapons permits can now legally carry their firearms in six other states.
The Legislature changed state law earlier this year to allow the attorney general rather than the governor to negotiate reciprocity agreements. Attorney General Darrell McGraw's office says it has secured agreements with North Carolina, Ohio, Florida and South Dakota.
Kentucky and Virginia already recognized concealed weapons permits issued in West Virginia.
McGraw's office is working to secure agreements with other states, including Michigan, Montana, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Vermont.
