A mother from Nitro is in jail charged with making meth in front of her three young children, but it's not the only crime police say this single mom committed.

Andrea Washington, a 26-year-old mother of three was arrested Sunday after police found materials to make meth inside her house.

"If those small kids would have got into them, gotten lids off and mixed chemicals, hard to say what would have happened," WV State Police Sgt. K.S. Dickson said.

State police said they found pot and a plant Sunday while they were searching Washington’s home.

Troopers said someone was suspicious, because an anonymous tip over the internet led them to a green book bag at Washington’s address.

“The components were stored in the places specified in the email,” Sgt. Dickson said, “I guess if there was a good part about it-- it wasn't an active meth lab, just components to make the meth lab."

“The girl was doing just fine, all of a sudden, made a couple of friends, then she had a whole lot of friends," Denny Withrow of Nitro, said.

This mother of three is now in jail with a $76,000 bond.

Troopers say all three children are staying with relatives while Child Protective Services finishes its investigation.
