UPDATE: I-77 Crash Sends Two People to the Hospital

An accident in Kanawha County is proof it's dangerous to drive when you're drowsy.

Sheriff's Deputies believe Dale Kern fell asleep at the wheel, crossed the median, and flipped his car over an embankment.

The accident happened around 5:30am Tuesday morning just north of the Pocatalico Exit.

Dale was thrown from the car and we're told he's in the Intensive Care Unit at CAMC General.

His passenger Tessa Kern was also injured in the crash.

Deputies say Dale was not wearing a seat belt.

Dale Kern is 27-years-old and Tessa Kern is 24 years old. The couple is from Mansfield, Ohio.
