A man is in critical condition after a late night accident sliced his car into two pieces.
It happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday night on Route 73 in Scioto County.
The crash was about 15 miles northwest of Portsmouth.
The Ohio Highway Patrol says that Earl and Freeda Cassidy were traveling at a high rate of speed when their car went across the center line.
Earl Cassidy tried to swerve back into his lane, but the car went broadside and was struck by a vehicle heading the opposite direction.
The impact was enough to cut the Cassidy's car in two.
The Cassidys were both flown to St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington.
As of Wednesday morning, Earl Cassidy was in critical condition and Freeda Cassidy was in fair condition.
The people in the other car, Hose Perez Hernandez and Omar Antonio Prado, were both taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center for treatment.
