CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Power outages across the region have forced many water companies to issue boil water advisories.
Here are the current advisories in effect:
- West Virginia American Water has issued an advisory for the Asbury Heights area of Kanawha County until further notice. Affected customers are in the Asbury Heights subdivision on Casdorph Road and Woodward Drive. The advisory has been issued because power outages have affected the booster pump that serves the tank for that area.
- **THIS IS NOW CANCELED** In Mason County, the Public Service District has also issued and advisory. It is for all water customers south of the Kanawha River who have experienced a complete loss of water pressure.
- Power outages have also put Lincoln County customers of the Lincoln Public Service District under an advisory.
- People in the Montgomery Heights area along Route 61 in Fayette County are included. West Virginia American Water says the affected water is all residential.
- A boil water advisory has been issued for a number of people in Wayne County. The Town of Wayne says the advisory is for customers on Mt. Union and Upper Newcomb Creek above the pump station, Millers Fork and the Upper Right Fork of Wilson’s Creek above Shadow Creek. It’s due to a power outage at the Newcomb Creek pump station.
All customers who are under a boil water advisory should boil their water for at least one minute before using.

I have been without power since 12/18. It has now been 10 days. Yes electricity is "precious" and yes it is upsetting to see NO power trucks within 10 miles of your home. I don't think the anger in these blogs are at the "workers" we all appreciate them. It is the company itself that any anger is directed toward. The point is that trees should have been cut in the summer - no AEP could not cut all of them but maybe a few more thousand people would not be frozen right now with no place to go because storm shelters are now gone. We are spending 50 bucks a day on gas for a generator and kerosene just to survive with a small amount of heat and food. We are out of money but still better than some. Some have none. You try living without power, water or phone for 10 days with a family of 5 and living pay check by pay check. I guarentee you would feel angry too. So when you talk about "walking in AEP shoes" I want them to walk in mine. Spend 10 days like that then get back to me!

LOL Mad (blow on the power lines). I'm saying they are aware of the weather forecasts just like all the rest of us. I believe its called preventive maintenance..

Oh yeah. It's AEP's fault that the storm hit and the power went out? No. Yes, they are supposed to make sure they are off the lines but that's not the only reason the power out. Car wrecks, things blow when they get too cold, what are they supposed to do? Stand there and make sure no one wrecks, and blow on all the power lines so they don't get cold?
