At first, he was disappointed to wear the #100 for the WVU Mountaineer football team. Now Chuck Kinder is proud to say he wore this unique number.

Next week, West Virginia turns 144 years old. But, it's the 100th birthday that Chuck Kinder from the Kanawha Valley will never forget.

That's the year (1963) that he was tapped to wear the #100 for the Mountaineers to honor the state's birthday. He was the team's place kicker.

It's the only time it's ever been worn and it's a story that Chuck has loved to tell for years.

Patti, why is a state's 100 yr. anniversary not important? I think it's cool the PK wore #100 to celebrate it. Maybe in another 170 years they can celebrate your number.

Typical, a celebration silly year. Maybe someone will stand up and celebrate a holy number... like 315. That would be a REAL story.
