ORIGINAL STORY
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A routine traffic stop turned into a high speed chase Thursday afternoon.
An officer was attempting to pull over a car when it sped up and nearly hit a pedestrian.
The chase then turned into a foot pursuit.
Police have one man in custody, but are looking for another man that took off on foot. They are also looking for a woman that took off in the car. They believe she is driving a green or dark charcoal gray Ford Taurus. It is missing a side mirror.
Police believe that some of the suspects are armed.

I heard this on police scanner - officer left his car when two suspects got out and chased them on foot. How could he block the woman when he was on foot. Also on scanner, somehow he knew that the guys running had guns - ACTUALLY he would have been very correct in shooting the scum. They all ran for reasons - outstanding warrents, or dope on them or stolen goods in car - why WOULD ANYBODY but other criminals every take up for people WHO DON'T SIMPLY pull to the right and stop when indicated so by the police???? I've pulled to right numerous times and they;d pass on by or get me and tell me I was speeding. BELIEVE it or not - if you talk respectful to them and have a clean record - UH, you usually get just a warning???? my gosh. written by Ms Dalton
That's a shock. So much for profiling.
To John Q. Just so your inquiring mind will know, a car chase generally ends up in a foot pursuit when the occupants get out of the car and put one foot in front of the other in rapid succession (commonly referred to as 'running'). As far as blocking the vehicle, you may recall a recent incident in which CPD did try to block a vehicle during a pursuit. Unfortunatley CPD was criticized by many people for how that turned out. John Q, at best you are a very poor Monday morning quarterback who lacks basic critical thinking skills during your pursuit to critcize law enforcement.
