PIKEVILLE, Ky. (AP) - An eastern Kentucky woman with a history of neglecting her son has been convicted of manslaughter in connection with the four-year-old boy's drowning.
A Pike County jury on Monday found 39-year-old Rhonda Justice guilty of second-degree manslaughter in the July 2005 death of her son, Joshua Justice. Her sentencing was scheduled for August 31st.
Prosecutors say the boy drowned in a neighbor's swimming pool after roaming around his neighborhood for at least five hours.
Defense attorney Robbie Wright in his closing argument called his client a "young, naive, immature mother."
