A man who was hurt when his racing truck caught fire last night is recovering in the hospital. We're told Bob Motz has improved from critical to stable condition at Cabell Huntington Hospital's burn unit.

One family was there while the accident unfolded, and Rob Kallmerten, of Nitro, caught it all on tape.

He knew something wasn't right when fuel began to leak onto the raceway. When the truck started to catch on fire he stopped recording to make sure his family was safe. There was a fear of an explosion, but Rob wanted to stay and see if the driver was okay. That's when he saw through the lens of his camera, men on the raceway pulling the driver of the truck to safety.

“It amazes me what people do in a time of disaster like that they don't think they just react and that heroism just blows me away,” said Kallmerten. “When they do stuff like that.”

Again, the driver is recovering in the hospital, and we're told he has improved from critical to stable condition at Cabell Huntington Hospital's burn unit.
