Name Released in Fatal I-79 Accident

CLENDENIN, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies have released the name of the man killed in an accident along Interstate 79 on Saturday.

According to a news release, John B. Parker, 48, of Weston, was traveling north when his SUV entered the median. When he tried to bring his SUV back on the roadway, he lost control of his vehicle and hit the guardrail.

Parker was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Parker was not wearing a seatbelt, according to deputies.

CLENDENIN, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- One person is dead after a single car accident on Interstate 79 near the Clendenin exit in Kanawha County.

911 dispatchers say the northbound lanes of I-79 were closed for about two hours Saturday morning while crews cleaned up the accident.

The interstate has since been re-opened.

The name of the victim has not been released at this time.
