Police in Braxton County say multiple people were burned during Gassaway's public fireworks display on Saturday.

Gassaway Police would not say how many people were hurt, but did tell WSAZ it was more than one person, and no injuries appeared to be serious. All victims were treated and released from the hospital.

Police are still looking into whether or not the injuries are a result from the public display -- or if illegal fireworks were involved.

The West Virginia State Fire Marshal's office and the Gassaway Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
