A former Charleston police officer, convicted of double dipping, was denied a new trial.
James Nowling asked the verdict be set aside or have the conviction delayed until the Charleston Police Department complete their internal investigation.
Nowling was convicted of obtaining money by fraudulent scheme and computer fraud.
A jury found he was working for a private company while on duty as as a police officer from 2001 until 2003.
During the trial, Nowling testified that was common practice.
He is scheduled to be sentenced later this month.
