Dry Weather Sparks Brush Fires

We finally got some rain Sunday but the passing showers still haven't eliminated the drought conditions across the region.

Firefighters say a brush fire in Lawrence County, Ohio Sunday burned close to a home. Scotty Kiser says you can see that the people who live here have had the lawn mowed. He says the nice thing is you can see the fire barely crept through it compared to what is over here on the left.

Meterologist Justin Ryan says we are typically not in a forest fire season right now that would be the fall. Because of the unusual drought situation it is pretty much been an ongoing forest fire season this year.

Crews even attacked this fire from above thanks to a firefighting helicopter loaned from a western state where they have plenty of rain right now.
