It’s good news for workers earning minimum wage.

Starting this week, they'll be seeing a small increase in their paychecks.

The new federal minimum wage will now be $5.85 an hour an increase of 70 cents. This marks the first time in ten years that the minimum wage has increased.

A person working full time on the current minimum wage of $5.15 will earn approximately $12,000 a year before taxes.
