Sheriff Releases Name of Boy Shot And Killed

The Mason County Sheriff has confirmed the accidental shooting death of a 12 year old boy last Thursday night.

It happened at a home in West Columbia. The sheriff says in a news release that Jeremy Tyler Stump was killed after being shot in chest with pellet gun. The sheriff says several juveniles were were playing, when one picked up the pellet gun and accidentally shot Stump. The sheriff says a brother ran to a neighbor's house for help and called 911.

Deputies with the Mason County Sheriff's Department arrived and performed CPR until Emergency Medical Services could transport the boy to a local hospital. Sump was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The sheriff say that the investigation into the shooting continues.

The staff at Foglesong-Tucker Funeral Home say services for Stump will take place Tuesday at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
