Four new police officers start work in South Charleston. They'll be sworn at a city council meeting Monday night.
Chief Brad Rinehart announced the new hires earlier this month. The department was short ten officers, so it's still looking to hire six more.
The new officers have to go through training, so they won't actually start patrolling until mid-September.
Rinehart says crime is deterred when a suspected criminal sees police patrols on a regular basis.
