The legal mess is getting stickier for the man known in northeastern Kentucky as the "Duct Tape Bandit." The liquor store robbery suspect -- who's accused of wrapping his head in duct tape to conceal his identity -- has been indicted by a grand jury on a robbery charge.
24-year-old Kasey Kazee was indicted Friday by a Boyd County grand jury on one count of first-degree robbery and a persistent felony offender count.
According to police, Kazee entered an Ashland liquor store recently with his entire face and head wrapped in duct tape except for openings for his eyes and mouth.
Police say Kazee was tackled by a store employee in the parking lot before getting away.
Kazee is being held in the Boyd County Detention Center.
The incident, since airing initally on WSAZ earlier in the week, grabbed international headlines because of the odd nature of the suspect's disguise. Spoofs of the incident have popped up on the internet. The story appeared on several news outlets around the world. Friday, NewsChannel 3's Doug Korstanje revisited Boyd County to see how all of this attention is affecting those involved in the situation.
