Two West Virginia University football players are charged with transferring and receiving stolen property.
18-year-old James Thomas of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and 21-year-old Ellis Lankster of Whistler, Alabama, were arrested just before 2 a.m Sunday.
Morgantown police didn't release any other details in a press release issued late last night but a police dispatcher who declined to give her name this morning said the stolen property was a computer.
Coach Rich Rodriguez released a statement saying he was aware that Lankster, a junior defensive back, and Thomas, a redshirt freshman linebacker, had been involved in an off-campus situation. Rodriguez said he's looking into the incident and will make a determination about Lankster and Thomas' status within the football program after all the facts are in.
The coach just announced last week that he had issued an 11 p.m. Saturday night curfew to keep players away from possible distractions.
