City Tightens Restrictions On Adult Businesses

The city of Dunbar is making it harder for adult entertainment businesses to set up shop. On Monday council passed the first reading of an ordinance that expands the zoning where those businesses cannot build.

Under the new ordinance Mayor Roger Wolfe says adult businesses must build 1,000 feet away from residential areas and 2,000 feet away from schools. The ordinance also puts new definitions on what is an adult entertainment business. Mayor Wolfe says any adult business looking to open up in Dunbar would also have to get approval from council. Council will make its final vote on the ordinance at its next meeting in September.

Also at its meeting Monday night, council tabled a decision on whether to install a new air conditioning system in its recreation center until next Spring.
