Breaking the cycle of drugs and crime is the goal of a new juvenile court program unveiled Monday.
Juvenile drug court is a diversion program for non-violent juvenile offenders with a substance abuse problem.
Participants commit to treatment and counseling and face random drug tests. After competing, the program successfully, the circuit judge will allow the teen to withdraw their guilty plea and dismiss the case.
A similar program that ran from 19-99 until last year was very successful in preventing repeat offenses.
