Construction Worker Killed in Dunbar, Name Released

Dunbar Police have released the name of the man killed while working at a construction site Wednesday Morning.

Jon Beatty was working on the new bridge along Interstate 64 that will connect Dunbar & South Charleston. Around 11:10am, a steel form used to pour concrete slipped and crushed him. Officials on the scene estimate it weighed about 25,000 pounds.

Beatty was 47 years old and is from Pennsylvania. That's where the company he worked for; Brayman Construction Corporation, is located.

His brother also worked for the same company. He was working on the South Charleston side of the project when the accident happened.

The investigation has now been turned over to OSHA.
