A man was killed Monday after he lost control and was thrown from his ATV in Calhoun County, state police say.

Troopers say Joshua Roberts, 22 of Millstone, was riding his ATV on Crummies Creek Road when he "failed to negotiate a right turn" -- and hit a group of trees before he was thrown from the ATV.

Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police say he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident -- and the road paved, but unlined.
