Ohio's governor and the state's top law enforcer say illegal gambling machines have been sneaking through a loophole meant for amusement centers like Chuck E. Cheese's.
Governor Strickland has signed an executive order authorizing Attorney General Marc Dann to crack down on the gaming machines found at more and more bars, storefronts and fraternal clubs.
Strickland says the number of the devices has more than doubled in the last six months.
Dann has issued an emergency rule making it a crime to market gambling devices as games of amusement. His office plans to mail out 700 letters giving establishments three days to take their machines out of service.
