Next week you can expect to see some detours in Charleston for the annual Labor Day celebration, the Sternwheel Regatta. Kanawha Boulevard will close on Tuesday starting at 6pm between Capitol and Clendenin streets. They'll remain closed for a week.
On Thursday the westbound lane of Kanawha Boulevard will be closed from Brooks to Capitol street. It will re-open on September 3rd.
There will also be several road closures to accommodate some of the highlights of the Regatta like the distance run, the grand feature parade, and the funeral parade. For the Charleston distance run expect some road closures on September 2nd from 6am until 7:45am. Those closures will be along Virginia Street from Pennslyvania Avenue North to Truslow Street and Clendenin Street from Kanawha Boulevard to Quarrier Street.
