Fire at Riverside High School

School Administrators say lightning could have caused a fire at Riverside High School.

George Beckett, Transportation Director of Kanawha County Schools, says Riverside High School has been evacuated after reports of a fire in one of the school's wings. However, we don't know how big the fire is.

Beckett says school administrators believe the fire could have been caused by a lightning strike, but firefighters have not confirmed that.

Several school buses are at the school to keep the students and teachers out of the rain.

School Officials say the school will close at 11:30am due to the power outage. We're told a transformer blew, knocking out the power.

No injuries have been reported.
