Morgantown police have closed their investigation into the discovery of a fetus in the city's sewage line grates after determining it was the result of a natural miscarriage.

The fetus was found on August 27th in the Suncrest area of the city by a Morgantown Utility Board Pumping Station employee.

Morgantown Utility Board General Manager Jim Green said at the time that the fetus had likely been flushed down a toilet.

A news release issued Wednesday by Sergeant M.L. Metheney says that after discussing the medical examiner's findings with the prosecutor's office, it was decided that this is not a police matter.
