LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The parents of a 13-year-old girl whose feet were severed on a Louisville theme park ride say her recovery remains slow three months later.

Kaitlyn Lasitter lost both feet on June 21st when a cable snapped on a ride called the Superman Tower of Power at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom.

Her mother said in an e-mail to the Courier-Journal yesterday that her daughter will suffer through a hard recovery for a long time.

Monique Lasitter says her daughter is sick from the medications and her weight has dropped to under 100 pounds.

Surgeons at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee were able to reattach Kaitlyn's right foot after the accident. But her left leg had to be amputated just below her knee.

The family sued Kentucky Kingdom in July, claiming the park failed to maintain the ride and ensure riders' safety.

I hope your daughter improves. Very best wishes to your entire family and I wish you much luck with your lawsuit. Please continue to let people know how she is.

I have wondered and prayed for Kaitlyn. I am glad for the update, but pray that the next update we will hear that she is doing much better, physically and emotionally. I cannot say that I know what you are going through, but I can say that I will continue to keep your family in my prayers and ask God to help her heal without all of this sickness and pain. I know as a parent, that we would trade places with our children if we could to take their pain from them. God Bless you all and may you take comfort in knowing that others care and are praying for healing, strength and comfort during the days to come.
