GREECE, N.Y. (AP) -- An upstate New York teenage girl whose disappearance sparked an Amber Alert has been arrested.

Police in the Rochester suburb of Greece tell the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle that 16-year-old Cassidy Geffert was arrested on a charge of fourth-degree grand larceny. It wasn't clear if she had an attorney.

Geffert was found unharmed Monday in the Brockport area about 15 miles west of her home after an Amber Alert was earlier in the afternoon by New York State Police. It said the girl was taken from a Greece residence around 10 a.m. Monday.

Police did not give any other details surrounding the incident. It's not clear if the teenager ran away or had left the home for another reason.

Local media in Rochester say police in the suburb of Greece have confirmed they've found 16-year-old Cassidy Geffert and that she was safe. Details on how and where she was located have not been released.

The Amber Alert was issued earlier in the afternoon by New York State Police throughout much of western New York. It said the girl was taken from a residence around 10 a.m. Monday.

Police had said the girl's cell phone was left behind, along with a blood-stained note indicating she was in danger. Authorities also reported the house was in disarray, with a knife on the floor and a .38-caliber handgun missing.

GREECE, N.Y. (AP) - State police have issued an Amber Alert for a teenage girl they believe has been abducted from upstate New York by someone who might be headed to Ohio.

Local media in Rochester report that 16-year-old Cassidy Geffert of Greece disappeared around 10 a.m. Monday. Police describe her as white, 5-foot-6, about 145 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing pajama shorts.

Police say the girl's cell phone was left behind, along with a blood-stained note indicating she was in danger. Authorities say the house was in disarray, with a knife on the floor and a .38-caliber handgun missing.

Police are looking for a black, four-door Saab sedan with New York license plate number GMM9136 that was taken from the scene.
