ATV Crash Kills One; Injures Two More

VAN LEAR, Ky. (WSAZ) -- One man is dead and two others are injured following an ATV crash in Johnson County.

Johnson County Sheriff, Dwayne Price, says there were three people in the ATV. Sheriff Price says Brandon "Doodle" Powers, 26, was riding as a passenger in the lap of another passenger.

It happened around 5:00a.m. Sunday morning. The driver of the ATV lost control while going into a curve, hit a rock wall and landed in a ditch.

The Sheriff says Powers was thrown from the ATV and died at the scene.

Two other people were taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The Johnson County Sheriff's office is investigating the crash.

Friends of Powers say he currently lives in Lexington, KY and was planning to head back Saturday, but was convinced by family members to stay an extra day.

Deputies say Powers and his friends were riding Saturday night with a group of several ATVs.
