Accidents Cause Delays on Interstates in Kanawha County

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Drivers should use caution as they head out Wednesday morning.

Several accidents have been reported in and around Charleston.

The first accident was reported just after 8 a.m. on Interstate 79 near Elkview. The southbound lanes were closed, but have since reopened.

Deputies say it was a single-vehicle crash and one person was injured.

Then, just minutes later, another crash was reported along Interstate 77 near the Tuppers Creek exit. Two vehicles were involved in this crash, but it's unknown if anyone was hurt.

Deputies are also on the scene of an accident near the Edens Fork exit along I-77. According to a news release, this was another single vehicle crash in the median. Right now, the northbound lanes are closed in the area.

Deputies say another single vehicle crash was reported at 8:30 a.m. at the I-64-77 split.

Accidents have also been reported in the 5500-block of Elk River Road North as well as the 3000-block of Shadyside Drive in Saint Albans, according to a release.
