IRONTON, Ohio (WSAZ) -- `Tis the Season to be looking for holiday employment.
Ciara Taylor is a 26-year-old, from Ironton, Ohio. She's looking for a job, and thinks a position as Christmas help may be a perfect fit.
"It allows you to get your foot in the door," says Taylor. "There's always the chance they may keep you."
Workforce West Virginia says seasonal work is out there. The agency has gotten work orders from UPS, FedEx and several retail stores in area malls.
Retail giant, Walmart is also hiring. The chain is hoping to hire 55,000 workers, around the country, to help with its holiday traffic.
"We'd like people to apply on-line or at our in-store kiosk, located in Lay-a-way," says Walmart Store Manager Rhonda Koch. "We would like applications in as soon as possible. We are in crunch time for getting our folks in. Our goal is to have them in by the end of next week."
Amazon is also hiring workers for the holidays, at its locations in Huntington, West Virginia and Winchester, Kentucky.
But the on-line retailer also is hiring people to work from home. "Here at Huntington and in Winchester we're looking for associates to support us with Mayday feature which came with new Kindle HDX devices a few weeks ago," says Gary Allen. "You may have seen some of our commercials on that. Our positions start at $10.00 per hour and associates can qualify for a seasonal bonus."
