UPDATE: Tip Leads to Meth Bust in South Point, Ohio

SOUTH POINT, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Four people have been arrested in connection with a meth lab bust in at an apartment complex in South Point, Ohio.

Lawrence County Sheriff Deputies say they went to an apartment in Lawrence Commons Thursday evening to check on the well-being of children who lived in the apartment, and a smell coming from the apartment.

Sheriff Jeff Lawless says when deputies arrived, they noticed a strange odor coming from the apartment.

During a search of the apartment, deputies say they found a "shake-and-bake" meth lab made out of a soda bottle.

Lawless says Roberta Boyd, 43, and Nathan Boyd, 24, who both lived in the apartment, were arrested and charged with manufacturing illegal drugs.

Also arrested and facing the same charge were William Gore, 45, of South Point, and Tyler Akins, 19, of Chesapeake.

The Sheriff says additional charges are possible.

Several agencies were called to the apartment complex to help with the meth cleanup.

The apartment is being cleaned with the help of the Gallia County Sheriff's Office, who are trained in meth lab cleanup.

SOUTH POINT, Ohio (WSAZ) – Deputies say they found an active meth lab in an apartment in South Point while checking on the well-being of children who lived in the apartment.

Lawrence County Deputies went to the apartment about 6:45 Thursday night after getting a call about a strange odor coming form the apartment in Lawrence Commons.

Sheriff Jeff Lawless says when they arrived; they noticed a strange odor coming from the apartment.

During a search of the apartment, deputies say they found a "shake-and-bake" meth lab made out of a soda bottle.

“This is a very dangerous and volatile situation as when these ingredients are combined they can be very flammable,” said Lawless

The Sheriff says he expects arrests in the case.

Several agencies were called to the apartment complex to help with the meth cleanup.
