JACKSON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A woman is in critical condition after she was hit and dragged by a truck.

Jackson County Sheriff Tony Boggs tells WSAZ.com, Jillian Sayre got into a fight with Mary Hart at Wilding Acres Mobile Home Park in Silverton on Friday night.

Boggs says Sayre started ramming a truck with two adults and two kids inside.

In the process, Boggs says, Sayre hit Hart and dragged her 40 feet.

However, witnesses say the situation then got worse.

"The lady had put the vehicle in reverse and backed up over the lady again," said William Stalnaker, a witness.

Bystanders frantically tried to stop the vehicle by removing the keys or killing the engine. After going 20 feet more feet, they were able to stop Sayre.

Boggs says an 18-year-old and two kids were in Sayre's truck at the time of the attack.

Hart was flown to the hospital where her son says she is recovering.

"The whole left side of her body is bruised up. her left lung is partially collapsed, and she has a broken leg," said Hart's son, who didn't want to be identified.

"It could have killed her," said Stalnaker.

Sayre was arrested and charged with malicious wounding and four counts of child neglect.
