UPDATE: Not Guilty Plea in Pikeville Stabbing Case

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A man police say stabbed his friend has pleaded not guilty to charges of first degree assault and impersonating a police officer.

The incident happened Tuesday night in Pikeville, Kentucky.

Police say Daniel Gillespie pretended to be a police officer in order to get Tommy Bray to open the door.

When he did, officers say Gillespie stabbed him.

Gillespie is scheduled for a preliminary hearing next week.

Bray is in intensive care at Pikeville Medical Center.

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A stabbing in Pikeville Tuesday night sends one man to jail and the other to the hospital.

Pikeville Police say the incident happened in the 100-block of Poplar Street about 8 p.m.

Tommy Bray, 21, of Pikeville, was the stabbing victim and was in emergency surgery at Pike Medical Center late Tuesday night. No word on his condition.

Daniel Gillespie, 20, of Harold, was arrested and charged with assault and impersonating a police officer.

No other details were released.
