Ashland Police Department Has its Own Phone App

ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Within minutes of a train hitting a car in Ashland on Monday morning, a picture and traffic alert was already posted on the Ashland Police Department's Facebook page.

"If you've heard about it in a couple of hours, that's old news," Ashland Police Major Todd Kelley. "People want information and they want it now.

The Ashland Police Department is taking that connection with social media one step further. You can now download an Ashland PD app for your iPhone or Android.

"It'll connect you with Facebook, Twitter, allow you to give anonymous crime tips," Kelley said. "It's just another tool to keep everyone safe."

The Ashland Police Department app is free and available now for download.
