ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Friday morning at a news conference the Ashland Police Department introduced a new tool they say will enhance communications between them and citizens.
The department launched an application that will provide up-to-date information on events they're working on.
"One of the greatest benefits of the app is where we normally try to update our Facebook, our Twitter, our press release, and our web pages, we can now do all that in one central location so the citizens can find it quickly," Sgt. Ryan Conley said.
Conley says now if there's a critical incident, the app will allow them to quickly send out information on things like missing person cases and roadways being closed.
People can also send police anonymous tips on the app.
Conley says he believes this may be the only law organization in Kentucky that has an app like this.
It works with Apple and Android devices.
