UPDATE 4/18/14 @ 6:35 p.m.
GRAYSON, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A Carter County family is devastated after a fire destroyed their small business.
Firefighters said it started early Friday.
Now, the family is trying to assess the damage and figure out what to do next.
"Total destruction, there's nothing left, all the equipment we bought, paid for, it's just all gone," said Bledsoe Auto Repair co-owner Barry Bledsoe.
He stood shocked just outside his former garage.
"I've always worked for somebody else until we started this business here," Bledsoe said.
More than four years ago, he and his son started Bledsoe Auto Repair after facing a tough economy and job search.
"It'd be ours once we got it paid for," said Bledsoe.
But a devastating fire, around 2 a.m. Friday, changed all that.
"It was just awful. I mean, it was going everywhere," said Sheila Seaton, a neighbor.
Grayson Fire officials said the garage is destroyed. The fire also ruined three cars inside and several outside.
Investigators are working with the state fire marshal to determine a cause.
"It just happened so quick," Bledsoe said.
Bledsoe believes there may have been a natural gas explosion, causing the fire to spread quickly.
"It blew the back wall, just blew it out and then it erupted into big flames," he said.
He said they lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in tools and inventory.
Inside of the garage, tires still burned.
"You can see flames down inside," Bledsoe said.
But even with all of the damage, Bledsoe is keeping a positive outlook.
"It hurts but you've just got to go on, start over again," Bledsoe said.
He said he's most thankful everyone is OK.
Bledsoe said they're working with the insurance company to figure out what happens with the damaged cars.
He also said the fire department is keeping an eye on the garage to make sure any remaining flames don't get out of control.
The family said they're looking at temporary garage locations to try to get their business back in operation, but they're not sure how long that could take.
The fire was reported about 2:20 a.m. at Bledsoe Auto Repair on Landsdowne Avenue in Grayson, Kentucky.
The business was destroyed by the fire.
We have a crew on the scene who says smoke is still billowing from the charred building.
The owners tell WSAZ.com that they're not sure what will happen next. They say this was a family business and their livelihood.
Cars were melted and the building collapsed.
The Grayson Fire Department says there is no word at this time what started the fire.
The Kentucky State Fire Marshal has been called to investigate.
No one was injured in the fire.
