UPDATE: Driver Charged with Murder in Carter County Crash; Names Released

OLIVE HILL, Ky. (WSAZ) – A man from Olive Hill has been charged with murder in connection with a two-vehicle crash on Ky. 174 outside Olive Hill that happened Tuesday afternoon.

Coroner George Sparks tells WSAZ.com that Allen Ray Tabor, 54, of Olive Hill, was killed in the crash.

Ricky Flannery, 49, of Olive Hill, is charged with murder and operating a vehicle under the influence according to jail officials and Carter County Sheriff Casey Brammell.

The head-on accident happened on about 2 p.m. near the intersection is U.S. Route 60 and closed highway near the accident scene for nearly seven hours.

Flannery was hurt in the crash and taken to a hospital in Morehead for treatment before being charged in the fatal accident.

Sheriff Brammell says Flannery told deputies that he drank a quarter of a pint bottle of Black Velvet liquor before the crash.

Brammell says results of a blood test are not back.

Both men were driving pickup trucks. Tabor was trapped in his truck following the crash. He died at the scene.

The Sheriff says Flannery's truck caught fire following the crash.

Flannery is being held in the Carter County Detention Center.

A judge is expected to set his bond Wednesday afternoon.

OLIVE HILL, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Ky. 174 reopened Tuesday night after being closed about seven hours near a deadly head-on crash between two trucks, Carter County 911 dispatchers said.

The roadway reopened in that area about 9 p.m.; the crash was reported about 2 p.m. It happened near the intersection of U.S. 60 in Olive Hill.

Crews on the scene say driver of a Chevrolet truck died in the crash. The driver of the Ford F-350 was taken to a hospital in Morehead, Ky. There is no word on that driver's condition.

The names of both drivers have not been released.

OLIVE HILL, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Crews continue to reconstruct a crash that killed one person and injured another in Carter County Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened about 2 p.m. on Ky. 174 near the intersection with U.S. 60 near Olive Hill.

The Carter County Sheriff's Office tells WSAZ.com that two trucks hit head-on.

Crews on the scene say driver of the Chevy truck died in the crash.

The driver of the F-350 was taken to a hospital in Morehead. There is no word on the driver's condition.

Crews are still on scene reconstructing the crash to determine the cause.

As of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Ky. 174 remained closed in that area and Carter County dispatchers said it could be a while longer before it reopens. No detour has been established, but local traffic may reroute on U.S. 60 through Haldeman or use local routes.

The names of the drivers have not been released.

No one else was in the vehicles.

OLIVE HILL, Ky. (WSAZ) – One person has been killed in a two-vehicle crash near Olive Hill, Ky.

Dispatchers tell WSAZ.com the accident happened on SR 174 near the intersection with U.S. 60 about 2 p.m. Tuesday.

A portion of SR 174 is closed in the area of the accident. No detour has been established. but local traffic may reroute on US 60 through Haldeman or use local routes.

No other information is available at this time.
