UPDATE: Man Hit and Killed in Sissonville; Victim's Name Released

UPDATE 9/27/12 @ 9 a.m.
SISSONVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The name of a man hit and killed by a car Wednesday morning has been released.

Deputies say Stephen Staudt was standing very near or in the northbound lanes of Interstate 77 near the Edens Fork Exit.

The driver of a Nissan Versa was heading north, when the woman saw Staudt and tried to stop. The car went out of control and hit Staudt.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say it was raining heavily at the time of the accident.

The accident reconstruction unit of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department is still investigating.

Once the investigation is complete, the evidence will be sent to the Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney to see if charges are warranted.

SISSONVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Traffic is moving again along Interstate 77 in Kanawha County after a fatal accident.

Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies tell WSAZ.com a woman was heading north near the Edens Fork Exit about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday when deputies say she hit a man who was standing out in the road.

I-77 was closed until 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.

The victim's name has not been released.

SISSONVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man has been hit and killed by a car along Interstate 77 in Sissonville.

A woman was heading north near the Edens Fork Exit about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday when deputies say she hit a man who was standing out in the road.

I-77 North is closed in the area. Traffic is being diverted off at Edens Fork.

SISSONVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A person has been hit and killed along Interstate 77 in Sissonville.

Kanawha County 911 Dispatchers tell WSAZ.com the person was hit by a car near the Edens Fork exit about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Right now, the northbound lanes are closed in the area. Traffic is being diverted off the Edens Fork exit.
