KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- All railroad crossings blocked by a derailed train have reopened.

The train derailed in the Cabin Creek area about 9 a.m. Tuesday.

None of the cars overturned, and no one was hurt.

It took crews about seven hours to get the train moving again.

UPDATE 10/9/12 @ 3:44 p.m.
KANAWHA COUNTY, W. Va. (WSAZ) -- It was an unusual sound.

"Just bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam -- you know," said Sherry Thomas, who heard the train derail.

That’s what Sherry Thomas heard just before 9:30 Tuesday morning.

"I was just up in my room watching TV and just the most awful banging noise -- just one right after another," said Thomas.

It was the sound of 12 cars on a train coming off the track near Cabin Creek, blocking four crossings along the way.

Daniel Smith was on his way to work when he saw the train come to a halt.

"Coming up through there, I was afraid it might turn over in the road but it didn't," said Smith.

Several hundred people live on the other side of the tracks, and they are now stranded.

"Last time we were down for several days, though, we couldn't get in and out, you know. They had to break the crossings everywhere and let everybody in and out -- but it took them a while to do that," said Bill Ballingall, who lives nearby.

Meanwhile, CSX has been working to develop a plan of action.

"I don't know how they're going to clean this up -- it's going to be a mess. But, that's life," said Thomas.
