UPDATE: Person Hit by Semi in Kanawha County; Dupont Ave. Reopens

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man is being treated at a hospital after he was hit by a semi with a double trailer.

It happened about 3 a.m. Wednesday along the 3100 block of Dupont Avenue in Dupont City, which is near Belle.

According to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's office, the truck driver told deputies he was traveling east when he noticed a man walking east in the westbound lane. The driver told deputies as he passed the pedestrian, something ran in front of his truck and was struck by the truck.

The driver told deputies he stopped his truck, got his flashlight and searched for the person. He found a man in the ditch.

The pedestrian was taken to CAMC General Division with non-life threatening injuries. He was also conscious and communicating.

Deputy J. Coulter and Sergeant K. White administered a preliminary breath test. The test revealed the truck driver's blood alcohol content was 0/0%.

Deputy Coulter went to the hospital and interviewed the pedestrian.

The names of the pedestrian and truck driver aren't yet being released.

It happened about 3 a.m. in the 3100 block of Dupont Ave. The person's condition is not known, but the sheriff's office tells WSAZ.com the injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
