UPDATE: Minor Damage in Huntington Apartment Fire

UPDATE 7/19/13 @ 8:45 a.m.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A minor fire at an apartment building along Route 60 East near the Huntington city limit is out.

The building is located in the 4500 block of Route 60 near the Russell Creek Bridge intersection. The fire was reported just after 7:30 a.m. Friday.

Barboursville Fire officials say the fire was contained to one first floor apartment. The resident of the apartment was home and got out okay.

Several neighboring apartments had minor smoke damage.

A resident of a neighboring apartment tells WSAZ.com that after hearing a strange noise, he opened his bathroom window and saw smoke. He then grabbed a couple of fire extinguishers, ran next door and worked to get the fire out.

No one was hurt in the fire.

Fire officials say they don’t know the cause of fire at this time.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A portion of Route 60 East is closed just west of the I-64 Exit in Huntington due to a fire.

The fire is at small apartment building near the Russell Creek Bridge intersection. This is in the 4500 block of Route 60.

The fire was reported just after 7:30 a.m.

At this time only one eastbound and one westbound lane are open. There are no reports of injuries.
