NEW INFO: Charleston Home Destroyed in Morning Fire

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- New details are being released about a fire that destroyed a home in Charleston.

Firefighters say flames were shooting out of a house on Ashwood Road when they showed up about 6 a.m. Tuesday.

A man was inside the home when it caught fire, and was able to make it out. He did suffer some minor burns to his head.

His dog wasn't able to make it out of the home and died.

Firefighters say the fire started in the kitchen.

The home is considered a total loss.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Charleston firefighters say a fire on Ashwood Road Tuesday morning began in the home's kitchen.

A man living inside was awake when the fire began, and made it out without being hurt.

The home was destroyed.

There is no word yet on what started the fire.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Fire crews are on the scene of a house fire in the 1200-block of Ashwood Road in Charleston.

The fire broke out about 6 a.m.

911 Dispatchers tell a family was inside when the fire broke out, but they made it out of the home safely.

At this time, no injuries have been reported.

Fire crews tell dispatchers the flames have been knocked down, but they remain on the scene.

There is no word on what started the fire or how much damage there is to the home.
