UPDATE 9/10/13 @ 6:24 p.m.
CHESAPEAKE, Ohio (WSAZ) -- An abandoned home behind The Travelers Motel in Chesapeake has always been a trouble spot, owners and neighbors say.

"Everyone just dumps trash and junk and old stuff, and they just throw the trash up there," explained Komal Shah whose family owns the motel where some people live for extended periods of time.

That's where the people affected by the blaze suspect the problem started. The home burned to the ground Tuesday morning.

The fire spread quickly to the hotel.

The owners just finished a remodeling project, which makes this fire even more frustrating.

The sliver lining: no one was hurt or killed.

For now, Chesapeake Fire Chief Ed Webb says the Fire Marshal can only say the cause of the fire is undetermined.

Webb says the investigation will continue. In the meantime, he is hoping that nearby security cameras may have the answers they need.
