UPDATE: Reward Offered for Information on West Portsmouth Bank Robber

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WSAZ) -- The FBI and the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office is looking for help in identifying the man who robbed the WesBanco branch bank in West Portsmouth December 7.

Officials say they are now offering a cash reward in exchange for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person.

Investigators say the man was armed with a black semi-automatic pistol when he entered the bank and demanded an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect is believed to be in his mid-to-late 30s, 6’3”-6’5”, with a slim build. He wore black boots, blue jeans, black gloves, a hooded black jacket with a red stripe, black fabric covering his face below his nose, and sunglasses with dark lenses and frames.

Anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is urged to contact the FBI at 740-354-5645 or Scioto County Sheriff’s Detective Daniel Malone at 740-351-1099. All calls will remain anonymous and confidential.

WEST PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WSAZ) -- The Scioto County Sheriff has released more information on the bank robbery at the WesBanco bank in West Portsmouth Friday morning.

The armed robbery happened at the branch at 2331 Galena Pike at 11:19 a.m.

Investigators say the suspect walked into the bank, pulled out a weapon and demanded money.

The man then demanded that a teller give him her car keys. He then forced the teller to walk with him to her vehicle in the parking lot.

The suspect then got into her car and drove away.

The car was found abandoned on the side of the road in West Portsmouth shortly after the robbery.

Anyone with any information concerning the robbery is being requested to contact Detective Dan Malone at the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office – (740) 351-1099 or the local FBI office at (740) 354-5465. All calls will remain anonymous.

WEST PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Police are searching for the person who held up the Wes Banco in West Portsmouth Friday morning.

911 Dispatchers in Scioto County tell WSAZ.com that the bank robbery was reported around 11:30 a.m.

They say a person walked into the bank in the 2300-block of Galena Pike with a weapon and got away with cash.

Dispatchers tell WSAZ.com that they took off in a vehicle.

No word on a description of the robber or the getaway vehicle.
