ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Tellers at the Town Square Bank in Ashland were held at gunpoint Thursday afternoon, Ashland police say.
The suspect walked into the bank on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, pointed a handgun at the tellers, and demanded cash, Major Todd Kelley said.
Police are looking at surveillance video, which shows the robber dressed in dark clothing with his head and face covered.
"We're going to examine the video footage a little more closely,” Kelley said. “Hopefully we may be able to enhance it to show some more features and be able to put a suspect with it."
Bank employees told police after he took the money, he ran behind the bank toward Bath Avenue.
“We're just hoping the public saw somebody running from the scene and may give a little better description, or maybe saw somebody running from this area get in a vehicle," Kelley said.
This was the first bank robbery they've had in Ashland since April of last year, Kelley told WSAZ.com.
Emergency dispatchers tell WSAZ.com the Town Square Bank along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard was robbed just after 3:30 p.m.
Ashland Police say a man walked into the bank, pulled out a gun and demanded cash.
No one was hurt.
Officers say the suspect was able to get away with some cash before taking off on foot. He was last seen heading toward Bath Avenue.
Police are searching the area for the suspect.
