UPDATE: Deputy Hurt after Being Hit by Car; Name Released

GREENUP COUNTY, Ky (WSAZ) -- Kentucky State Police say a woman seriously injured a Greenup County Sheriff's deputy when she hit him with a car.

It happened just after 8 p.m. Thursday on State Route 207.

A woman was driving south on SR 207 when she hit both the sheriff's deputy and a tow-truck driver, who were responding to a separate vehicle crash.

Greenup County Deputy Matthew Smith was taken to Our Lady of Bellfonte Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, according to Kentucky State Police. Deputies tell WSAZ.com that Smith has some scrapes and lacerations, but is expected to be okay.

The tow-truck driver, Lloyd Caudill, was treated and released with no injuries.

KSP says alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. There is no word if any charges have been filed.
