HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Police have released the name of a man killed in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 64 in Huntington Thursday evening.
The crash happened near the 7 mile marker just after 6:30 p.m.
Police say Wilmer G. Ditton, 71, of Anderson Island, Washington, was traveling west when he lost control and went into the median. He then hit a traffic sign before coming to a stop in the cable barrier.
Ditton was taken to the hospital, where he died.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The accident happened just before 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
911 dispatchers say a motorcycle rider lost control and crashed into the cable barrier in the median.

Cabell County 911 dispatchers say the man was headed eastbound on I-64 about a mile from the 5th Street Exit, when he lost control and crashed into the cable barrier in the median.
The man was killed instantly.
Dispatchers say one eastbound and westbound lane are closed in the area at this time.
No word on when they will reopen.
