UPDATE: Guilty Plea for Charleston Bank Robbery Suspect

UPDATE 6/26/13 @ 3:30 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man from Kanawha County has pleaded guilty to robbing a Charleston bank.

Danny Summers, 40, of Dunbar, pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery during a hearing in Kanawha County Circuit Court on Wednesday afternoon.

Summers faces five to 18 years in prison when he is sentenced in August.

The robbery happened April 11 at Fifth Third Bank at 4515 MacCorkle Ave.

Just hours after the robbery, Charleston Police arrested Summers.

Investigators say he walked into the bank, showed his gun to the teller and demanded money. Summers allegedly then ran from the bank with the money.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man has been charged in connection with a bank robbery in Charleston.

The robbery happened at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday at the Fifth Third Bank at 4515 MacCorkle Avenue.

Just hours later, Charleston Police say they arrested Danny Summers, 40, of Dunbar, and charged him with robbery. Summers is the robbery suspect seen in the surveillance pictures from the bank, according to police.

Investigators say Summers walked into the bank, showed his gun to the teller and demanded money. Summers ran from the bank with some money.

People who live and work near the bank say the arrest gives them a sense of relief.

“He could have come into our office and put our patients and my staff in threat as well as everybody else,” Kandi Nelson,office manager for the Skaff Pediatric Office.

This same bank along MacCorkle Avenue was robbed last June.

No one was hurt during Thursday's robbery, but the bank did close early.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Charleston Police have arrested a man they believe robbed a Charleston bank.

According to Sgt. Eric L. Hodges with the Charleston Police Department, Danny Allen Summers, 40, of Dunbar, has been arrested and will be charged in connection with the robbery.

The robbery was reported at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday at the Fifth Third Bank at 4515 MacCorkle Avenue.

Police say the Summers walked into the bank, pulled out a handgun and demanded money. Then, Summers ran from the store and headed west down the alley behind the bank.

Summers is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges about 6 p.m. Thursday.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Charleston Police have released surveillance pictures of a man they believe was involved in a bank robbery in Kanawha City.

The robbery was reported at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday at the Fifth Third Bank at 4515 MacCorkle Avenue.

Police say the suspect walked into the bank, pulled out a handgun and demanded money. Then, the man ran from the store and headed west down the alley behind the bank.

Surveillance equipment inside the bank provided police with a description of the suspect.

The man is believed to be about 40-years-old, 5'8" to 5'11" with brown hair and a mustache. The man was wearing black shoes, black pants, a very light gray hooded sweatshirt with some type of blue logo on the front. Police say it appears he was wearing a black t-shirt under the sweatshirt. The man was also wearing black sunglasses and a black ball cap.

No one hurt during the robbery, but the man did get away with some money.

No other details are being released at this time.
