Gas Line Rupture Reported in Marshall County, W.Va.

MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Emergency crews remain at the scene after a natural gas transmission line ruptured in Marshall County about noon on Friday, according to our NBC partner, WTOV-TV.

The 24-inch line ruptured on U.S. Route 250, about 4 miles south of Cameron.

The transmission line is off Reid Ridge near Fish Ridge.

No injuries were reported.

Several residences were evacuated on Reid and Fish Ridge as a precaution, and a road in that area was closed for about two hours.

The line is owned by Williams Co. and the transmission line was shut off. A crew from Williams along with Cameron fire offices hiked in to the scene to inspect.

The Cameron fire chief determined the scene was safe and residents were permitted to return also about 2 p.m., officials said. The road was also reopened at that time.

MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Evacuations are reportedly underway following a natural gas line explosion in Marshall County, W.Va., according to our NBC partner, WTOV-TV.

The station reports the gas line exploded around noon on U.S. Route 250, about four miles south of Cameron.

They say the evacuations are taking place within a 3-square-mile area of the explosion site.

No other details were immediately available.
